a master is said to be entitled to leave service and that leave is always granted after six years subject to the exigencies of the public service. An officer can claim it as a right.
Under the headings "Vacation" and "Leave", I am to explain that should a Master be granted leave immediately after a School vacation, the amount of that vacation will be deducted from the three months full pay leave referred to in the paragraph as to leave.

You are to understand that your employment will be under the Colonial Government, but that your emoluments will be paid solely from the funds of the Colony; and that the appointment will be subject to the Colonial Regulations in force for the time being, which are published in the annual "Colonial Office List", and can also be consulted in this Office.
4. The Regulations (Nos. 81 to 96), copies of which are enclosed, specify the proceedings which are taken in a Colony when it is deemed necessary to suspend an officer with a view to his removal from the service; but you must also understand that you will hold the appointment subject to the pleasure of the Crown.
